Hello friends,

My name is Brian, and I’m asking for your vote on November 3, 2026. It is clear that the United States is not living up to our full potential as a nation; gridlock in Congress has allowed many societal problems to go unaddressed for years or decades. Most Americans agree that our political and economic systems are stacked against us: something has to change.

I’m asking for your vote in the midterms, but not FOR me; I am NOT a candidate for public office. Instead, I’m asking voters across all 470 congressional elections to vote WITH me—to support endorsed candidates in the House and Senate races on their own ballots, and together, unstack our political and economic systems. As a national bloc of voters outside the two-party system, we can reshape the incentives that govern American politics. My campaign uses game theory, the principles of nonviolence, and the organizing tactics of Gandhi and Dr. King. Although it’s popular to hate on Congress and want to see them all kicked out of office, organizing with love means offering every single member of Congress a chance for redemption.

Here’s how we do that. I spent most of my 30s serving in the state legislature—I’ve seen the sausage made from the inside. Almost every major problem the United States faces can be addressed by Congress. After watching many of those problems go unresolved for years or decades, I drew on my experience to assemble the Partnership of Ordinary People Undermining Lobbyist Influence for Societal Transformation Act of 2026—the POPULIST ACT.

A traditional political campaign thinks victory comes by defeating an opponent to win elected office. Because nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice rather than people, this campaign defines victory as persuading Congress to enact the POPULIST Act. As Dr. King explained in his Letter from Birmingham Jail, a nonviolent campaign has four steps. Injustices must be identified first; followed by negotiation, self-purification, and last, taking direct action. For many years, I have worked to identify injustices and policy failures throughout American society, gathering perspectives from across the political and economic spectrum. The POPULIST Act is the result: a comprehensive legislative package addressing hundreds of interconnected problems.

These solutions are not nebulous soundbites like “Protect Social Security” or “End gerrymandering.” Instead, the POPULIST ACT details the tens of thousands of precise changes to the United States Code that can upgrade our social contract for the 21st century. No one, including me, agrees with all the policies in the package. The negotiation phase gives concerned citizens and members of Congress an opportunity to propose refinements. Through September, campaign supporters have the opportunity to vote on amendments to clarify details or trim the package.

The third component of a nonviolent campaign is self-purification, and it takes the form of a group fast. Since 2017, I have promoted a monthly fast for peace, answering a challenge Gandhi laid out at the end of his life: “The 15th is the day of our trial; observe a fast on that day.” It is a simple act that can be practiced anywhere for free. The fast for peace—no food or intoxicants for 24 hours, drinking only water—is self-purification but has other important aspects as well. The monthly fasts build moral authority, create community, and demonstrate a willingness to sacrifice for a greater good. As my own personal commitment to this campaign, I have undertaken additional aspects of self-purification: longer periods of fasting, as well as sobriety, celibacy, and voluntary poverty.

Last, direct action. Muster Day, October 15, is the campaign’s public roll call. All citizens are invited to fast as a shared commitment to the demand for immediate passage of the POPULIST ACT. This commitment is a pledge to vote for the Populist Fusion slate of congressional endorsements, which will go to both the red team and the blue team. Where possible, people are asked to stay out of work and refrain from shopping. This one-day general strike demonstrates that the political and economic status quo depends on the continuing cooperation of ordinary people.

Here’s where the game theory comes in. Candidates for Congress who wish to compete for the Populist Fusion endorsement must publicly join the fast on Muster Day, demand immediate passage of the POPULIST ACT, and pledge their support for the resulting slate. If Congress delivers no later than October 30, cooperating incumbents get support for reelection. If Congress is unwilling or unable, endorsements can go to the cooperating challengers. Remaining endorsements are resolved by rules selected by campaign supporters, not by debating which candidate is the lesser of two evils; candidates know the possible rules, but not which ones supporters selected. In short, candidates who need a winning bloc of votes are always better off cooperating, because to refuse is to be willing to yield the election to the opponent.

On November 3, I am asking you to vote with me for the Populist Fusion–endorsed candidates in the House and Senate races on your ballot—whoever those candidates may be. Can you donate 25¢ a day to become a campaign supporter and help build a union of voters capable of collectively bargaining over who sits in Congress?

I love the United States, and I know we are capable of far more than our present political system allows. In 1776, thirteen colonies came together through the violence of the Revolutionary War to throw off an old way of governing. In 2026, the thirteen titles of the POPULIST Act offer another path: a nonviolent revolution using shared sacrifice, negotiation, and direct action in the ballot box to rebuild the political and economic systems that are stacked against the average person.

We the people have the power; we’ve just needed a better way to organize it. I hope you will join me in demanding that Congress pass the POPULIST Act before the election.
